What we Value as a Team
At PCA, our team culture is rooted in the same values we model for our students every day. These values shape how we teach, how we lead, and how we support one another as educators, caregivers, and community members.

Respect
We believe every person, child or adult, deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued. We lead with kindness, communicate with care, and honor the diverse experiences and perspectives that each team member brings.
independence
Just as we nurture independence in our students, we trust our team to take initiative and grow into their unique strengths. We support autonomy in the classroom and encourage professional growth at every stage of the journey.
consistency
Children thrive on predictable rhythms, and so do we. We create stability by following through, communicating clearly, and showing up for one another with integrity and accountability.
empathy
Empathy is the heart of our community. We approach challenges with compassion, support each other through hard days, and celebrate progress, big or small, together. Because when we care for one another, everyone rises.

dale’s Story
Philadelphia Chinese Academy was born from founder Dale You’s deep belief that language is not only a tool for communication, but a bridge to opportunity, identity, and connection.
As a Chinese-American mother raising two young children, Dale often found herself searching for a space that honored both her heritage and her values as an educator. She wanted her children to grow up proud of their culture, fluent in Mandarin, and confident in who they were. But she also wanted them to experience the kind of hands-on, child-led education that she had come to love through Montessori. When she couldn’t find a school that combined both, she built one.
Before founding PCA, Dale worked in corporate finance and saw firsthand how her bilingualism opened doors, whether it was being able to speak with engineers in the field, negotiating across time zones, building relationships with global clients, or standing out in a competitive field. Her ability to speak Mandarin wasn’t just an asset; it was a superpower. She knew she wanted to pass that gift on to the next generation, not just to her own children, but to others in her community as well.
What began as a five student program has since grown into a vibrant, nurturing school that now serves dozens of families across Philadelphia. At PCA, children are immersed in Mandarin and supported by Montessori-trained teachers who foster independence, empathy, and joy in learning. Dale’s own children have flourished in this environment, not only becoming fluent in Chinese, but developing the kind of curiosity, confidence, and cultural awareness that she always hoped for.
Dale believes that when children are rooted in both language and love, they are capable of anything. PCA is her way of giving that foundation to every child who walks through the door.
